At the end of the seasons whether summer or winter temperature is going to take a sharp turn. Our furnace must get ready for this, to work on a best way these appliances need adequate maintenance while working and even at the time of resting.
There are always ways in which we can increase the life of our heating and cooling including All HVAC systems no difference. Lets we talk some points...

Keep it clean

Whether we have a car or a cooling and heating system, everything runs better when it is clean. Our heating and cooling system consist of either a furnace or Air Conditioner. There is also an indoor unit and an outdoor component to take into consideration.

There are many ways to clean the outdoor unit. We must always make sure to cut the power before doing anything. Once we remove the top, we can use a hose to clean the fins by spraying from the inside out. We can also purchase fin cleaner from the local hardware store if we want to get into the nitty-gritty. If we continue remove debris from the system, it will run efficiently.

Check the wiring

While the power is still off, it is also critical that we check the wire connections to heating and cooling system. In order to inspect the wires and components, remove the access panel of the condensing unit.  We must look for any wires that have melted insulation or look charred or burned. If something happened, get it fixed. Additionally, we may check all electrical connections to make sure they all are tight and secure. And at the end, check the connector switch. If there is any pitting, replace that as well.

If, we see anything serious, and we do not feel comfortable replacing these wires, we should not attempt to. We must reach out professional.

Check the filter

The air conditioner is passing air through a filter which over a time, store dirt. We can check and clean filter but eventually, it will need to be replaced too. A high-proficiency, pleated air filter is the best on the market and will last longer than normal reusable filters. It's good to get the better one, it increases the efficiency of the appliances.

When the filter is dirty and not clean, it decreases the air flow, making our system work harder. Changing it out will ensure the longevity of our heating and cooling system.

Check the thermostat

Mankind is progressing and improving day by day, everything in our homes getting updated and need to be modernized with time. If the thermostat is an old, mechanical type, consider replacing it completely. The best way to utilizes our heating and cooling system is through proper planning. A programmable thermostat will allow us to set the air conditioner to start at a desired time before we reach home, rather than working long run.

Check the fan

Our outdoor condenser unit also has a fan that is mounted on the top. Maintaining a heating and cooling system means keeping proper airflow. Make power off, remove the top and examine the fan blades. If any cracks or chips are visible, time to replace the blade. It's advisable to clean in and around the fan before putting the unit back together.

If an older model, we may need to oil the fan motor as well. At any moment or time, if we suspect that the fan isn’t working properly, consider replacing the whole thing. It will be much cheaper in the long run to swap a fan than an entire condensing unit.

Our appliances should be checked several times a year. It is most recommended and ideal time to clean right before it gets hot and right before it gets cold. I love to be friend with my appliances.
